Auckland
Auckland is more than just a great city, it’s a whole region full of things to see and do.

In fact its sparkling waters, varied landscapes and cosmopolitan city life combine to make it one of the most desirable places in the world to live or visit.  And for the backpacker or independent traveller there’s so much on offer - and it’s all easily accessible. Most backpacker accommodation is located in the central city, which makes an ideal base for exploring the region.

Auckland is renowned for its stunning harbour and islands. You can go on a fishing trip, kayak to the dormant Rangitoto Island (returning in the dark if you’re brave), match race in America’s Cup yachts, go whale and dolphin watching, or simply relax on a sightseeing cruise.

If you’re after an adrenaline fix then try SkyWalk around the top of the SKY Tower - 192 metres up in the air, or SkyJump off it. Alternatively bungy from the Harbour Bridge with AJ Hackett, or go canyoning in a west Auckland rainforest.

Bright lights, big city - Auckland’s nightlife won’t disappoint. Choose from the many seaside bars and restaurants at the Viaduct Harbour, or the funky spots in Ponsonby and on High Street.

There’s something to suit all tastes and budgets in Auckland… how much time have you got?
