In the Bay of Plenty - life’s a beach! Spread between the mountains and the sea, and sheltered from the prevailing westerly winds, the Bay of Plenty has a reputation for sun, surf and fun, as well as being a fruit basket dotted with orchards and boutique vineyards.
Visitors to the Bay of Plenty must spend some time on the water, whether it’s surfing, swimming or scuba diving, game fishing or kayaking. You can even blokart (windsail) on the beach! And if that’s not enough, you can swim with the dolphins, parasail, jetboat or go skydiving.
Other leisure activities include game fishing, golfing, garden visits and horse treks. There are a number of museums and Maori cultural experiences to see, or you could tour one of the many cellar door wine outlets or take the kids on a farm experience.
Backpackers will find plenty of accommodation in the area, so come on down to “The BOP” and have the time of your life!
